About me

I’m Tim. I work with small businesses to help their marketing reflect the quality of the work they do—and turn more of the right visitors into enquiries.

I’ve noticed that good businesses are not always easy to connect with when someone encounters them for the first time. Business owners understand what they do and the difference they make, but translating that into website pages, marketing materials and online content that carries someone forward can be surprisingly tricky.

I help business owners shape how their businesses present themselves, so that potential customers quickly recognise they’re in the right place—and feel confident taking the next step.

Why marketing for small businesses should work differently

For most small businesses, success rarely depends on reaching very large audiences. Markets are often more specialised, budgets are more limited, and wasted effort carries a greater cost. In this environment, marketing works best when it focuses on reaching the right people and supporting the decisions they are already in the process of making.

This perspective informs how I approach my work: not just by explaining what’s offered and how it helps, but by shaping how that understanding builds into a clear and confident next step.

The importance of clarity

In my experience, most marketing challenges in small businesses stem from a lack of clarity — in who the work is for, what’s actually being delivered, and how someone moves forward — rather than the tactics being used.

Business owners know the work they do and the people they help, but that understanding doesn’t always come through in a way that moves someone forward when they arrive on the website.

Potential customers arrive with a problem they want solved. If the business cannot quickly show that it understands that problem and can help, the moment often passes.

Small improvements in how a business explains what it does—and how that understanding builds from one step to the next—can make a significant difference to how often interest turns into enquiries.

Much of my work focuses on strengthening that clarity, so that it leads naturally to action.

How I work

I do not work on ongoing retainers. Instead, the first step is a review of your website and marketing materials, looking at how the experience works from the perspective of someone arriving there for the first time.

From that review, I provide clear recommendations outlining where the journey is supporting interest, and where it may be causing it to drop away. Alongside this, you’ll receive an itemised quote so you can see exactly what each part of the work would involve.

I provide these recommendations without charge or obligation, giving you space to consider whether the suggested changes would be worthwhile for your business.

If you decide to proceed, I carry out the agreed work at the agreed price. If not, you still leave with a clearer understanding of how your marketing could better support the decisions your customers are already in the process of making.

A practical and proportionate approach

Some businesses choose to begin with a small number of improvements, focusing first on the areas where interest is most likely to turn into action. Others prefer to spread the work gradually, addressing the points where the experience can be strengthened step by step.

Consider working with me

Good marketing for a small business does not need to be complicated. It needs to help the right people discover the business and support the decision they are already in the process of making, so that getting in touch feels like a natural next step.
